Hallacas is the traditional Christmas delight during Venezuelan holidays, just like the Mexican Tamale, it is made of corn meal and achiote, filled with pork, chicken and beef, wrapped in smoked plantain leaves. Depending on the region, different ingredients are used, such as boiled egg or chickpeas. In Eastern Venezuela, pork is used decorated with olives, capers, raisins and bacon.
